January 2008 - After spending the day at Kimberley Mountain Resort snowboarding, in beautiful yet chilly sunshine we were ready for a warm and laid back restful café and we found it in the Kootenay Roasting Company coffee shop in Cranbrook, which is about 20 minutes drive from Kimberley.
The place has long and narrow serving and seating areas that have a sensation of separation from each other so you feel like you’re walking from your kitchen into a relaxing lounge area when you sit down. There are sofas and tables a plenty, all matching in their miss-matched way, with wicker chairs and comfy sofas as well as high bar stool chairs and tables and low dining tables. The local paper with its quizzes and horoscopes entertained us while we sipped our reasonably priced Café Latte and Americano! During our short wait as the friendly guy behind the counter made our coffees we noticed some huge and incredibly tempting scones in the deli-cabinet that we may have to return to sample on our next visit to Cranbrook.
