April 2008 - After skiing at Fernie Alpine Resort all winter and stopping for breaks and lunch in the Day Lodge at the bottom of the hill I recently discovered a very pleasant alternative at the top of The Timberline chairlift, the Lost Boys Cafe. It is small and cabin like with a outdoor deck that gives spectacular views of the valley when it is clear. Inside is warm and cozy with an alpine feel. There is counter service for ordering food where the staff seemed friendly and helpful. We choose a falafel and salad wrap and hot chili served in a bread bowl. Both were delicious and we washed them down with a confidence boosting beer so that the rest of our skiing that day seemed effortless! There are toilet facilities up there, a short walk from the café outside, they are very nicely appointed but due to the location, up a mountain, no running water means they are drop toilets. Still, a very welcome break while out on the slopes.
