"THE place for breakfast in Fernie"

by Janet (from Fernie)
August 2008 - The Blue Toque is 'the' place for breakfast in Fernie. Show up on any weekend, and you'll find the place packed. And for good reason. The menu is inspiring, the coffee endless, the service excellent. And it doesn't hurt that the restaurant is located in the old train depot with the Arts Station, giving it a cool and comfy ambience. I don't go out to breakfast often, but when I do, the Blue Toque is an easy choice.

"Good food in a pleasant setting"

by Sally (from Fernie, BC)
June 2008 - I have been meaning to go to the Blue Toque for about six months but every time I was in the downtown Fernie it was on Tuesday or Wednesday when the café is closed. I finally struck lucky on a wet Sunday when no outdoor pursuit was possible and a leisurely brunch seemed like a great idea. The restaurant is inside the picturesque, old renovated railway station building along with an art display area. The place was buzzing when we arrived but fortunately they had a table for four. After much debate about the menu because there were so many choices that sounded good, I finally opted for a turkey wrap, which had mozzarella, cranberry chutney and spinach in it. The wrap was accompanied by a roasted beet, herb and goat cheese salad and they were both delicious. All fours dishes we ordered seemed to fit the bill, including a Reuben sandwich, a bagel with cream cheese, avocado and tomato and steak and eggs. I aim to be back again before the next six months are up.
