December 2007 - When I arrived in Fernie I noticed that there appeared to be three ‘coffee shops’ in the little downtown area. Mug Shots, set on a side street to the main drag, turned out to be much more. We went into the place having being told it had internet access, which it did. They have a bank of five PCs that you can pay to use by the 15 minute block.
The staff were friendly when we asked about the internet and about their lunch menu. We decided to each have their barley soup and then followed that with a Reuben sandwich to share, which they kindly split for us, both were tasty, hot and went down a treat! They had a full coffee and tea menu so eating was definitely not obligatory, but I would recommend it!
It felt like the kind of place that the locals go to, they had sofas as well as tables so you could chose just how laid back you wanted to be and it had a unique combination of an area to relax, kick back and eat or drink with the sometimes less laid back computer section with visitors taping away at their keyboards. I felt like the two areas worked well together and so with the great food options I will definitely be back!

November 2007 - On every trip to Fernie, I've been into this coffee shop and cafe and each time have left impressed with their food and friendliness. The place is more counter cafe than coffee shop but a couple of sofas in the place keep it comfy and inviting and it seems to draw a wide variety of customers for light lunches or coffee. My only criticism is that they don't provide wireless access. If you want internet you have to pay for it on one of several computers along the front wall - a good service to young travellers/ski workers but a bit of a bummer for those of us well used to the customary access at coffee shops. Still, I'll be back.
