August 2007 - It's gotten harder to find a decently priced hotel in Golden now that it has taken off as a destination ski resort town. But Mary's Motel still offers a good basic hotel at good prices. It's located right in the town of Golden and is about a 15 minute drive up to the ski hill. From Mary's Motel you can walk through the town to local pubs and restaurants. It is set back off of the main road a bit so it is quiet but still close to everything you might need.
Mary's Motel has basic rooms with one or two beds and/or a couch. The rooms are clean and what you would expect for a motel at these prices. There is an outdoor pool that is only open during the summer. There is a grassy area and some barbeques that make for a great setting for a summer get together. The indoor pool is lacking a bit in atmosphere but does the trick after a day of skiing. There is an indoor hot tub as well.
Whether you are in Golden for a summer mountain biking trip, a winter ski trip or just a stopover during your trip through the Rockies, Mary's Motel is a good budget motel choice in Golden.
