March 2008 - Panorama ski resort is a really fun place. It really is a mountain village community - people don't just ski and board on the slopes, they also sleep, eat, party and soak in the hot springs right there! I haven't experienced this before and I really noticed something different about the energy. At the base there was live music and competitions happening all day between the bottom of the main chair lift and the restaurants/bars. Beside the restaurant area, up a few steps, there are people kicking back in the steaming hot pools, and just behind all this are all the warm, comfy chalets. From higher above skiers and boarders wind their way down the mountain straight toward this little hub, providing a backdrop of constant activity that entertains the people lunching below. For a beginner skier like me, Panorama provides a couple of green runs on the bottom half of the mountain which I found challenging but do-able. Ski-freak friends of mine love Panorama for the challenging, fun and diverse runs and they reckon the snow is pretty good too. It's a beautiful mountain.
