| "Revelstoke's Grizzly Plaza" |
by Cleo (from Calgary) July 2007 - On a summer road trip through BC, we camped in Revelstoke and walked across the river in the evening to check out the centre of town. The setting of the town is enough to make it worthy of a stop but the activity of the town centre was great. Even though it was a Wednesday night, there was live music at the Grizzly Plaza, an outdoor square in the middle of the village, and the place was bustling with people and pets.
Revelstoke apparently gets quite a lot of tourist traffic through year-round so unlike some winter resort towns, the village is pretty lively in summer, even on weekdays. The great thing about the crowd though, was it seemed like at least half of the people around were locals, just out having a stroll with their kids (and/or dogs) or a friendly chat with other locals.
If you're ever stopping for a stay in this scenic little village, definitely check to see if anything is on and try to catch a live band at the plaza - it's a sweet little stop.
