May 2008 - When driving from Calgary to the Okanagan, specifically Kelowna in this case, Revelstoke's location is the obvious rest point for weary travellers in need of a warm bed. Arriving at 10pm and planning to leave at 5:30am, luxury was not a priority, and the more money to be saved the better. Our party decided on Canyon Motor Inn, primarily for its cheap rate, and we got what we paid for. The walls seemed to be made of paper, so we felt like the party in the room next door was in fact taking place around us. The bathroom was stiflingly hot, though we were happy to get a place with decent water pressure in the shower. True horror came when the bed proved to be damp, pillows and bedding included. After a few hours blocking the sound of the adjacent room from our heads, we succeeded in getting just enough sleep to tie us over until reaching Kelowna. Come sunrise we were groggy and in need of some Tim Hortons, but were not sad to leave the less than satisfactory conditions of our room at this motel.
