July 2007 - On a recent trip through Revelstoke we found ourselves walking through downtown looking for a place for dinner. Enter the Magpie & Stump. We were there early on a Friday night so the place was close to empty. As inviting as the patio looked it was about 35 degrees and the comfort of the air conditioning inside was too tempting to resist. We ordered a cold beer and were provided with some chips and salsa to snack on while waiting for our dinners to arrive. Although the beer was good I am not sure about the mason jar it came in. These are great for water but when I have a beer I would prefer it in a mug or tall beer glass. We both had the chicken and almond burritos which were served with rice and refried beans. They tasted great and the serving size was more than each of us could eat. While we were there the place started to fill up most noticeably with some young locals who looked like they knew the bartender and serving staff. I have a feeling that it would be a great spot to hang out later on a Friday night.
