| "A Good Ol Breakfast" |
|
|
by Tanya (from Calgary) August 2007 - On a recent road trip, we stopped at the Ol Frontier restaurant in Revelstoke for breakfast. It is located right off the highway so it is an easy place to make a stop. It is decorated in a Western theme with cowboy paraphenalia on the walls and breakfast menu items such as the Tumble Weed and the Westerner. The building is a wooden structure that is built to look old and weathered. There is also a hotel and a 24 hour gas station on the property. I decided to build my own breakfast from the single serving items menu. I had a serving of pancakes, an egg and hashbrowns all for under $7. It was exactly what I felt like and it was a fantastic breakfast. The friends I was with had omlettes and they liked their meals as well. The breakfasts were filling and none of us could entirely finish our plates. The food is like homecooking but is greasy enough that you know it was not made in moms kitchen. The restaurant was busy while we were there but it's a large building and we did not have to wait to be seated or long for our meal. I have heard that at their really busy times, the whole dining experience takes a lot longer than we experienced. The Frontier is worth the stop whether you are on your way through on a road trip or if you are staying in Revelstoke for a holiday.
