March 2008 - There are many places to dine on the commercial strip along the road near Chilliwack parallel to and south of the Trans Canada Highway. We selected the White Spot.
White Spot is a chain of restaurants found throughout British Columbia and Alberta. White Spot is more upscale than I remember from visits back in the '70s. This is a good thing.
We chose sweet potato fries for a starter, a starter which soon disappeared. It had been a long day of driving and fresh air. The Cajun seasoned fries came with a nice chipotle mayo.
I selected the Tuscan chicken pasta dinner and ate the whole thing. The bowtie pasta was covered in chicken, mushrooms, red onions, bell peppers, feta cheese and sauce. Sorry Mom, I set aside the peppers.
In hindsight, if we knew what lay in store for the rest of our day, we would have taken our time and enjoyed some great dessert choices.

March 2008 - Visiting BC for the first time in years, we had heard that the White Spot chain of restaurants had greatly upgraded from their original level. So we decided to visit the location near Chilliwack after a long day of driving in the car. Upon exiting the car, there was an unpleasant odour in the air which I suspect can be attributed to the local farm area. We were worried this wasn't a good choice for a meal stop but were happy to discover a welcoming, non-smelly restaurant once we entered the building. It was nicely decorated and felt more upscale than I remembered these restaurants being. The menu was loaded with lots of great choices but we had been told to try the sweet potato fries as a starter. They came with a chipotle sauce for dipping and were very delicious. I also really enjoyed my meal which consisted of a steak sandwich and salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and was much larger than expected. Even the caesar was delicous. And our server was attentive yet did not bother us too much. This restaurant did not disappoint.
