November 2007 - Visited this well established restaurant in New Westminster the other everning. The establishiment is one of the well appointed old style buildings of New Westminster,B.C. Atmosphere and decor is fantastic.
Beautiful establishment for gathering of family and friends. Service is excellent. I could also understand that this would be one of the better food venues in the area as well. Primarily a Schnitzel House of Germanic decent, they do them all quite well, along with all the fixings like country fried potatos, spaetzel, red cabbage salad and yummy garlic bread. Appetizers are plenty as well. The menu has great variety.
I started with the Onion Soup and had a main of the Blackforest Schnitzel with two types of mushrooms. I felt the chef had lost it with the salt and added too much to his recipes. Perhaps he hasn't tasted them lately. The schnitzel gravy was so salty that the mushrooms Shitake and Oyster couldn't be tasted for texture or taste. The salty flavour was just accumulating with every bite. I was very borderline whether to return it to the kitchen or not. My main was a bit of a disappointment and will influence my return with a desire to spend my money somewhere else tasty. The other 5 patrons seemed very satified.
