March 2008 - This Travelodge is advertised as Your Best Value in North Vancouver. If you wish to sacrifice all comfort, this statement is true. Weeks in advance, I had booked a non-smoking room through the motel's web site. However, my special web-site price was only offered for smoking rooms. Having visited the room, my partner was immediately unable to breathe in that discounted smoking room. The large assymetrical lumps in the beds looked a bit scary anyway.
Back to the reception, I paid an additional premium for a non-smoking room on the second floor. This non-smoking room shared a wall with a smoking room and the air in our room did not seem any different than the air in the smoking room that we first visited. At that time, we noticed the rooms had no baths. I could not find a telephone.
While running some errands away from the motel, we decided that we would need alternative accommodations. Returning to the motel, we cancelled our room and the clerk was pleased to retain all my funds for the upgraded room which we would now vacate.
This Travelodge has been around for decades and has not aged well. Within one block, you will find a Best Western, a Comfort Inn and an independent Grouse Motel. However, I did not check out the value of those North Vancouver motels.

I do apologize that you did not find the room to be comfortable for your needs. As new management at the hotel, we are commited to improving the experience for all of our guests. As an older building, we have begun to do many upgrades to enhance the property, and until such time that it is completed we have been and will continue to offer the lowest rate in our area.
All of our rooms are actually priced on the number of beds in the room, so I am unsure how a smoking room would be cheaper then a non-smoking room? If all we had available in non-smoking was rooms with two double beds instead of one double bed, then yes, the room would be at a different rate.
As for the bath yes some rooms have showers while other rooms have a full bath tub. If you have a preference for one over the other, we would be happy to accomodate a specific request.
