October 2007 - Originally planning on the Italian restaurant a couple of doors down, we decided to keep looking after seeing the pricey menu posted at the door. Strolling up the street we stumbled across Burgoo. The cosy interior we could see through the window, and the interesting and slightly cheaper dishes advertised on the door enticed us inside. We were greeted by a friendly waitress, and a nice warm glow from the open fireplace. The rustic interior was very relaxing and in terms of patronage it wasn't very busy on a Wednesday night, but that suited us tired tourists just fine. We ordered the intriguing Burgoo stew, a traditional local dish apparently, and the Indian chicken curry. Wanting to keep it a quiet night we ordered a couple of juices, but funnily enough they were out of both our requests... my one and only quibble. The meals were incredibly tasty, and the recommended burgoo biscuits, which are just like scones, were a very complementary addition. My curry was full of subtle spice flavours and had the right amount of kick for my liking, it could have been improved only by a wee bit more sauce. We left with full bellies, feeling warm, sleepy and very satisfied.
