"Here's A Hot One!"

June 2008 - This is the very best place to eat. My wife and I eat out a lot and spend $200+ per meal. For $100 all in you get the freshest food, prepared and cooked to prefection of any establishment in BC! The veal is magnificant!!
No formality here, the owner is a very up front person who tells it as it is and treats customers the same.

"Pasta like Mama used to make"

June 2007 - Rosa's is one of those little hole-in-the-wall places that has people lines up around the corner for their fresh pasta and tasty sauces (check out the autographed pictures by movie/TV stars--how the heck did they ever find this place?!?) The lasagna is so well done here that it is my usual dish; fresh homemade pasta, great bechemal and tomato sauces, lots of cheese bubbling on top--mmmm. I have also had the veal and enjoyed the tender meat and tasty sauces. I always recommend the tomato salad to start with lots of fresh tomatoes, bocconcini, capers and basalmic vinegar; it's great to share. Skip the bread, however; every time I have been it has been stale and dry--not what one expects in a place with otherwise great food.

Be warned! The servers can be a bit gruff; they come around when you joke and smile at them and have been very kind to my elderly mother, however. Don't expect the white line napkin over the arm and cool demeanor; it's more like Mom telling you to eat it or go hungry. Also, the weekends can have huge lineups; Friday and Saturday evenings I've seen people lined up outside under their umbrellas waiting patiently--no lounge to wait in here!

Rosa's reminds me of eating out in my small hometown on the Prairies, everyone chats and watches the cars go by and just relaxes. The food is without decoration or show but portions are large and tasty.
