"What a view!"
7
by Susan (from Nelson BC)
July 2007 - When I arrived at 7 PM, it was my intention to drop off my bags in my room and then go explore Robson Street and Stanley Park and English Bay before it got dark. But when I arrived in my room on the 35th floor, facing west, I was so stunned by the magnificent view that I did not leave the room for the next 2 hours, until the sun had completely set. The breathtaking sunset viewed while standing outside on the little balcony on the 35th floor, or from the bed actually took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. Why hasn't anyone told me about this place? This is the tallest building on the West End and it overlooks Stanley Park, English Bay and the Vancouver Harbour. I was delighted with the price of the room for the comforts it provided, such as a fluffy duvet. I did not have the opportunity to try out any of the other hotel facilities such as the Cloud Nine Restaurant on the top floor because there are so many delightful places to dine within walking distance of the hotel. The lobby and reception desk of the hotel are a little strangely set up, but the room was great! When I was leaving, I only waited a moment or two for the elevator, but three flight crew members got on my elevator on the 30th floor, quite agitated, saying they had been waiting for 11 minutes for the elevator. Perhaps you want to make sure you have allowed for enough elevator time in this older hotel.
