July 2007 - I love the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver as it is a beautiful hotel without being too pretentious and it is in the perfect location for a weekend in the city. If you are lucky enough to get a harbour view room and it is a clear day, you will see the harbour and the surrounding mountains from your room.
The rooms are not large but are an adequate size. The beds are very comfortable and come with soft duvets. Every room has large windows and even the city view is a good one if you are on an upper floor. You may also look down on the pool deck that is located at the health club spa on the third floor. There is also a hotel garden on the deck of this floor where the hotel grows herbs and vegetables that they use in the restaurant.
The location of the hotel is perfect. Right by the water so you can walk or run along the sea wall and close to Robson Street where you can shop and dine in style. Although once you are there you will not need your car, the one thing to be wary of is hotel valet parking is very expensive and you are charged per day.
