| "Amazing Sushi for an Amazing Price!" |
|
|
by Corbet (from Vancouver, BC) July 2007 - The Sushi Bar in Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's best takeout sushi spots. Not only is the sushi very fresh but the prices are extraordinary considering the quality. During lunch time, the daily sushi special that consists of six California rolls, six tuna rolls and six yam tempura rolls will only set you back $6.50, or less than a foot long sandwich at Subway/a combo at Wendy's. The menu isn't the largest among Vancouver's sushi restaurants but they do have photos of all the dishes on the wall in the restaurant, which makes it easy for sushi rookies and those looking to experiment with something new. Their sashimi combo is also quite excellent, as is their lunch box B, which consists of chicken katsu, miso soup, gomae (spinach with roasted sesame dressing), three pieces of sushi and three gyoza (deep fried dumplings). Both are incredible deals. I work right around the corner and order lunch from there at least once a week. It does get busy during lunch and dinner, so if ordering takeout it is best to phone ahead. Also, don't expect to be wowed by the service. They know that people will always come for the sushi, so they make little effort at hospitality. It's a small price to pay for some of the best sushi in Van for your dollar.
