August 2007 - Kam's Place on Davie is an excellent restaurant in downtown Vancouver serving both Singaporean and Vietnamese Cuisine. Our party dined here recently and had a variety of dishes, including spicy green bean and chicken, beef in peanut sauce and a vegetable tofu dish.
Food wise, everything was excellent with the exception of the tofu dish. Everyone in our party agreed that the sauce wasn't particularly tasty. However everything else was fantastic. We all each had coconut milk rice which comes wrapped in a leaf. Very nice presentation and extremely tasty. The spicy chicken with long beans was particularly noteworthy. The spicing was just enough without overwhelming the dish.
Ambience was better than your average for this type of restaurant. What really stands out though is the exceptional service. Kam himself is always there and incredibly friendly. Indeed our friend is a regular there and Kam brought us all beverages after our meal just because of that.
All in all a great dining experience, and incredibly friendly service.
