| "Great BBQ, and you might see Elvis" |

by Dan (from Calgary) August 2007 - Memphis Blues Barbeque House on Commercial Drive is a BBQ restaurant in the newly trendy east side of Vancouver. While there are plenty of tables, you have to go up to the counter to order your food and beverages. Table service does happen sometimes, but if it's busy expect them to yell your name when your order is ready and get up for it yourself.
Our party started with an order of BBQ Nachos. Nacho chips covered in mozzarella cheese, pulled pork and doused in BBQ sauce may not sound all that good, but you have to taste it. It was a great spin on a classic.
There were three of us so we then ordered the Memphis Platter. This huge dish of meat included brisket, sausage, more pulled pork, french fries, beans, coleslaw, ribs, rib ends and more. It was in fact the most protein I've ever eaten at once. Everything was covered in their signature bbq sauce. The potato salad was very nicely spiced and the french fries and sausage were also very good. The pork ribs themselves were a bit fatty for my liking, but overall most of the meats were quite good. The bbq chicken was my particular favorite.
There were three of us and we couldn't finish all this food, so consider the platter only if you have four people or like to take leftovers home.

| "Great BBQ and fun atmosphere make this a popular weekend/lunch hangout" |

by George (from Coquitlam, BC) August 2007 - Commercial Drive in Vancouver has more restaurants than you could shake a stick at yet this little plain-Jane restaurant has them lining out the doors on the weekends for a reason. The booths are spartan (go for the outdoor tables and people-watch on a nice warm day), you have to go to the front counter to order and get your own drinks from the cooler and the lineups can be long but people come for a reason--good, old-fashioned BBQ. The meats are all smoked for hours until they are literally falling apart, the coleslaw is creamy and the beans are tangy and rich. The only thing missing is a country biscuit (they do have cornbread but it is actually my least-favourite item on the menu--greasy and blah).
If you are with a group of three or more, go for one of the platters. They include a HUGE selection of meats (pulled pork, chicken, beef brisket, sausage, ribs) with sides of coleslaw, potato salad, fries and cornbread. The smallest (Memphis) platter is more than enough for three or four hungry diners and works out to well under $12 each! The enormous Priscilla Platter feeds over ten people for $120 and includes seafood!. They also have recently added a picnic pack which includes meat and all the fixings and cutlery and drinks--great idea when heading to the park or the beach on a sunny summer day.
