August 2007 - The Fountainhead Pub is a sports bar and grill restaurant on Davie Street in downtown Vancouver. It offers the usual selection of sandwiches, appetizers and limited entrees that you might get anywhere. The real attraction of the Fountainhead is the patio where you can sit and people watch, and many people do all day long.
A friend and I dined here and both had club house sandwiches, which were surprisingly good. The addition of cucumber to them made for a unique and refreshing twist.
The ambiance here is nothing special with standard bar stools, tables and chairs. The only downside to our meal was the relatively slow service on what appeared to be a day with very few customers. With only a few tables seated, we had requested some extra ketchup which never came, never got asked for refills on our drinks and waited a surprisingly long period of time for our bill.
All in all a mediocre dining experience but people don't go here for the food. The patio is indeed a great place to watch the world go by and in this part of Vancouver that can make for some very interesting sights.
