August 2007 - Although it rates less than a 10 in terms of being packed and noisy, this is a true coffee-lovers' paradise! There are many locations around the downtown and Kerrisdale area, including one across the street from the side door of the Vancouver Art Gallery/adjacent to the Hotel Vancouver. This gem of a coffee shop lives up to its name; each latte or mocha has a wonderful design on the top made by one of the barristas. I have seen incredible cedar trees, perfect little hearts and even combinations of both. They also have a wide selections of teas, iced coffees, etc., but it's just not the same without the artwork on the top! My lactose-intolerant friend also raved about their plain drip coffee being the best he'd ever had so . . . .
They also serve a variety of great sandwiches (try the turkey on cranberry/walnut bread) done on a panini press. For a lighter snack, choose from the fresh assortment of cookies, pastries, etc. Their florentines are to die for (hazelnuts and milk or dark chocolate with a creamy filling) but they disappear quickly so grab one early.
One of those places on the "To do" list when you're in Vancouver!
