by Chantelle (from Vancouver) September 2007 - Cheap beer, good service, and reasonably-priced food make the Five Point a great place to go after work. Filled with locals who've obviously been going there for years, the Five Point has a laid-back feel. The two street patios are bigger than the inside restaurant area and are perfect for chilling with a friend. The salads aren't fancy, but they're filling and super cheap at around $8 – 10. The spinach salad was plain but the yam fries are delicious.
Great music just adds to the experience. This isn't a hip trendy Vancouver restaurant; you're more likely to see piercings than Prada and tattoos instead of lap dogs. The atmosphere is relaxed and smoking is permitted on the patio. Inside, there's not a lot of room but the close seating arrangement just adds to the relaxed, intimate setting.
The service was excellent; the server checked up on us regularly without being a nuisance and was quick to bring the next round of beer and wine.
All in all, great place to watch the game or catch up with some friends.
