July 2007 - I love the Steamworks Brewery in Gastown in Vancouver. It has a spectacular view of the harbour and has some of the best microbrewery beer I have ever had. If you can, sit upstairs so that you can look out over the water. The downstairs is nice also but would be best in the winter as it is cozy and dark. It is also a popular sports pub so it is best to make a reservation if there is any kind of game on.
There is, or course, a fantastic selection of the beers they make at their brewery. I tried a couple different ones and was impressed with them all. They always have a seasonal beer so make sure to ask what it is at the time you are there. I had the barbeque chicken pizza. It was made with a nice thin crust and had jalepeno's and cliantro on it...a fantastic combination! They have a really interesting menu with some pub classics and some items that are original and different. There are special daily dishes to keep the menu interesting and fresh even if you go there all the time. The Steamworks Brewery is somewhere that should be visited during a trip to Vancouver.
