| "Cheap as a tin of spam - but better!" |

July 2007 - When we found tickets from the UK to Vancouver on Flyglobespan for the whopping price of $108 (including tax), we weren't altogether sure it wasn't a scam. There are good deals these days but a flight across the Atlantic and all of Canada for less than a train journey from Yorkshire to London seemed too good to be true. So, it was much to our relief to arrive at the airport and see a) that it was indeed a legitimate airline (the name isn't exactly typical), b) that there appeared other normal-part-of-society travellers who were also chancing a safe trans-Atlantic flight for as few dosh as possible, and c) that the airplane didn't show an ounce of duct tape and actually offered business class.
Like most budget airlines, the food was minimal and you had to pay for beverages and the headphones for the radio or TV (although the plane was kitted out to accept most standard MP3 and ipod headphones) but the service and legroom were adequate and the flight was uneventful, and again.... cheap!
The airline flies from Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto to London, Glasgow and Manchester but apparently only from May through October. I would definitely fly with Flyglobespan again, maybe even 'splurge' for business class!
