May 2007 - The Lakeshore Inn is your standard looking hotel/motel. However, what sets it apart is its absolutely prime location. Located directly off Lakeshore Rd. (they must have thought long and hard when coming up with a name), the Lakeshore Inn sits right on the lake and is nestled amongst some of Kelowna's finer resorts. While they don't offer room service (I was there on business and room service is a often a necessity), it was only a 30 second walk to the restaurant at Mateo Bay or a couple minutes further to the exceptional restaurant at the El Dorado. The rooms were very clean and spacious, although when I arrived and opened the door to my room I was greeted by a wave of scorching air due to the heater having been cranked to full blast. It took a good 24 hours before I was able to regulate the temperature, so the first night was slightly uncomfortable. After that it was relatively smooth sailing. The wireless Internet was cooperative and the lakeside pool was a great way to unwind after some long days slaving in front of a computer screen. The front desk staff were very courteous but probably had an average age of 15 and weren't very helpful when we started asking specific questions about where certain things (restaurants, music scene etc.) All in all, we saved a bundle by staying there over The Grand and were central to many of the places we wanted/needed to see. It was an enjoyable stay and I would recommend the Lakeshore to anyone who wants to be right on the lake and doesn't want to pay premium prices.
