"Always a great time"

July 2007 - Almost every time I go to Kelowna, I try to get in a visit at Rose's. Located at the Grand Hotel, the pub is one of the busiest spots to get a bite to eat and a drink in Kelowna.

On my last visit, my friends and I got there early enough to get a seat on the fantastic patio. It overlooks the water so is great for people-watching and looking at the lake lights. Even though the patio is huge, it's so popular that it fills up fast, so on a weekend night make sure to get there early. The inside of the pub is enormous as well and also gets packed once the patio is full. The night we were there, there was a line-up out the door and into the parking lot.

The menu is all typical tasty pub food. If you want something fried or covered in cheese, then Rose's is the place for you. There are a few vegetarian options, including a veggie burger and a vegetarian pizza, which is what I ordered that night. It wasn't the best pizza I've ever had but it definitely tasted good with a pint of beer. They've got a decent variety of beers on tap and usually have drink specials as well.

The service that evening was average but I imagine it may have been because they were so busy. We got all of our food and drinks but it took a while to get the bill at the end of the night. Overall though, we all enjoyed our night out. For some fun on a hot summer night in Kelowna, there really isn't a better place to go, as long as you can get in that is!

"Best Patio in Town!"

May 2007 - As far as patios go, Rose's is the undisputed leader. Located directly on the lake, it is a prime spot for people watching, to spot a water plane taking off or to watch the boating action on the lake. On a hot day in Kelowna, it gets no better. I was there during the NHL Playoffs, and I hate the NHL, so I had to put up with obnoxious Flames and Canucks fans hooting and hollering all night. However, if I did enjoy hockey Rose's would be a great place to watch a game. It was right packed and they had ample large TV's to view all the action. The food is your standard pub fare and it is generally quite good. I ordered a steak sandwich rare and it actually was cooked properly, something of a rarity amongst pub steak sandwiches. It was also quite massive, another irregularity amongst pub steak sandwiches. The service was good, although my beer glass sat empty and idle for a little too long and a couple occasions. I guess this has to be expected with the sheer volume of patrons that were there at the time. On a nice day, Rose's is can't miss.
