October 2007 - O-Zeki is one of my all time favorite sushi restaurants. The sushi is great, the service is always friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is traditional Japanese. You can choose to sit in one of the booth style tables where you take off your shoes and get some privacy with the curtains. Or you can sit at a open table or the sushi bar. Anywhere is good but the private booths are pretty fun and it makes it feel more authentic.
I started with sunomo salad which is always good there. I love that they serve it with little shrimp and with lots of the vinegar dressing. We then shared a plate that came with 3 different 8 piece rolls which was a great deal. I always order too much when I go for sushi but this way we managed to stay within reason. I was full at the end of the meal and the bill was very cheap. The prices of all the pieces are really good but some of their platters and meals are especially a good bang for the buck. All of the sushi is very fresh.
This is a definate first choice for sushi restaurants in Kelowna.

May 2007 - When one thinks of places to find great sushi, Kelowna probably isn't the first city on the list. As I've spent time in Asia and live in Vancouver, I was especially sceptical. After asking around to find out the local consensus, we decided O-zeki was our best bet. I'll be the first to say, it was exceptional. I find that the best test for a sushi restaurant is the quality of their sashimi, as it gives you the truest taste of the quality of their fish supply. I ordered an assorted sashimi plate and it passed all my taste buds' tests. The fish melted on my tongue and was prepared delicately and with an eye for presentation that is a Japanese trademark. We sat at the bar and were able to talk with the sushi chefs, who were also as authentic as one would expect from a high-quality sushi establishment. The entire staff was very friendly and kept our green tea and sake well stocked. Our only qualm was that the restaurant was out of hot sake, so we had to try some cold sake. I had never had my sake cold before but it was also quite excellent. If you are landlocked in Kelowna and looking for fresh, quality sushi with an authentic Japanese atmosphere, O-zeki's is the place for you.
