September 2007 - There are a lot of great things about Kelly O'Briens but the absolute best is the Pachos! The pub is located in a very busy area of downtown Kelowna so it is quite popular and can get packed, especially on a warm night. They have a rooftop patio that's got decent views of the lake, and a big menu. The food is pretty much all typical pub stuff like pasta and burgers. Since the theme there is Irish, there are a few Irish specialties on the menu as well.
Kelly's offers a 2 for 1 appetizer special pretty much every night of the week so it's a great deal. The last time I was there I wasn't just in the mood for fried food so ordered a veggie burger, which was good. Still, I couldn't not get a plate of the pachos to share, and they were the best part of the meal. The dish is basically lattice-cut fries covered in cheese, and it comes with a side of Kelly's specialty sauce. I don't know what's in it, but it's delicious. Pachos aren't healthy but they taste amazing.
The service at the pub is always good and this visit was no exception. Our server was friendly and efficient. We got our first round of drinks (which came in glass mugs) quickly and didn't have to wait at all for the bill. If you're looking for something greasy to eat while enjoying a view of Kelowna, Kelly O'Brien's is a good bet.
