April 2008 - On a recent move to beautiful Nanaimo, we decided to start our hunt for great restaurants, to try out the local fare. Our first stop was at the popular chain across the country, Moxie’s. The staff was friendly and we were seated without any waiting. The decor was the typical but very calming. There were specials of the day but we ordered from the varied menu. Well, we three were definitely disappointed in our food choices. To start, we all had salads which were not fresh and tasted very bland. My one dinner partner ordered the pepper steak with the sauce on the side. The plate of food came covered completely with the sauce. Oh sorry they said. I ordered the fish and chips, which sounded delish on the menu write up. This was another disappointment. The fish looked very crispy but as I ate, I soon found out it was not cooked through. My other guest had a very ordinary tasting beef dip. We will not be going back to Moxie’s in Nanaimo anytime soon.
