June 2008 - Just the other day while on a sightseeing trip downtown Nanaimo, our new home, we came across a quiet and lovely spot for lunch. We had made our way downtown to check out the boat show on the waterfront harbour. This is one of the many events that happen in Nanaimo every year. This was also the weekend that the new Port Convention centre opened for the public. There was lots of folk and lots of entertainment going on. We cut through the Port Mall looking for a lunch place. Who would’ve thought that a Muffin place was the perfect place to pull up a seat and sit and enjoy a hearty bowl of soup a freshly made smoked ham and Swiss cheese sandwich? The friendly server behind the counter had two choices for soup. My travelling mate chose the cream of vegetable soup that was thick and delicious and I decided on the minestrone, which is one of my favourites, if it’s done right. Well this was perfect and very satisfying. We hope to make a return trip soon again.
