June 2007 - The Upstairs Dining and Lounge is just as the name says - it is upstairs. Located above the Schooner Cove Restaurant it is fine dining in quiet and relaxing surroundings. The decor is nice with big comfy leather couches in the lounge and large glass windows facing the ocean. We did not have a reservation and the dining room was full but they offered us a seat at the bar and offered us the full menu. The bartender recommended the steak so that's what we ordered, although they offered a wide range of menu choices. I think that was part of the problem, everything sounded so good we couldn't decide. This is a small restaurant, no more than 12 tables in the dining room and seating in the lounge is limited as well. The steaks were just as the bartender said - very good - but this is a pricey restaurant even by Tofino standards. However, this would be a great place to go for a romantic dinner or to celebrate an anniversary or birthday.
