August 2007 - The Blue Heron Restaurant is located in Tofino just as you come into town in the Weigh West Resort. We came to this restaurant on recommendation from some family members. The restaurant had a very casual setting and the noise level was a little loud with all of the large gatherings and families in the restaurant. The restaurant sits over top of the water on the edge of the Tofino inlet. You can watch many boats come and go from the Weigh West marina as you dine. We started with an appetizer of yam fries that were the best we've had. Then we ordered our meals - fish and chips which were excellent and a thai chicken stir fry that was also very good and too much to finish. Considering the portion sizes, the pricing was good. The service was fast but not overly friendly as they seemed to be very busy with lots of tables. It was a nice meal in a unique location.

July 2007 - The Blue Heron is in the Weigh West Marine Resort which is on the main road into Tofino. It is just before the town core so you can avoid the traffic and there is lots of parking available. It is situated next to its marina and has a great view of Tofino Inlet. This place is not fancy but it is nice and has lots of seating - a comfortable place to sit back and enjoy a nice meal. The steak sandwich was recommended and was worth trying. They also offer burgers and sandwiches and a variety of hot dishes as well as a kids menu with the usual pizza, chicken fingers and pasta. They are open for breakfast with a variety of breakfast items. And they have the best yam fries! The portions are huge so you won't go away hungry from this place and it is great value for your money.
