| "Fine Dining overlooking the Beach" |

by Deb (from victoria) July 2007 - The Wickaninnish Restaurant is located in the Pacific Rim National Park at the Interpretive Centre. Although you have to pay to park in the Park, if you eat at the restaurant they will reimburse your parking fee - which is nearly $20 for a family. So make it a plan for the day you are spending in the park anyway and get your parking fee back. The restaurant takes advantage of its beach location with high windows on three sides of the restaurant and provides a fantastic view of the surf. This is a very nice place and the menu is geared to fine dining - as are the prices. The food was delicious. I had cedar plank baked salmon with veggies. The kids were offered the kids menu and were relieved to find they could order the usual fish and chips and chicken and fries, which they said was very good too. This is probably not a place you will go to twice if you have kids because it is a little pricey, but it is worth the visit at least once. After dinner we went down to the beach and watched the sunset before heading home. The only disappointment was the shape of the washrooms. They were dirty and not well equipped (no toilet paper) and the door on the stall didn't close properly. Staff said it is because people from the beach use the facilities even though it is meant for patrons only and they find it difficult to keep it clean.
