by Robin (from Victoria) June 2008 - This is the most amazing place! A bright, cozy little float house on the water in Uclulet, BC. You literally get to walk down the ramp onto the ship. Inside is a cozy dining room with handmade wooden furnishings. There are only a couple big tables and a couple small ones, so get there early! The tables and bar area are made out of big pieces of wood, some of them still maintaining their original curves. In one area of the place is a wide screen tv that silently plays surfing videos; perfect ambiance for fellow water-lovers. A couple of guitars and microphones wait to be played. The folks who run this place are young, welcoming, vibrant, and artful. For a drink, we ordered an Octopus, which is a blend of several types of hard alcohol and fruit juices and pieces of fruit, served in a giant bowl with eight or so straws. A great group pleaser! The menu is so fresh. The seafood is local, caught that day or the day before; you can't get much fresher! They use organic veggies, and many of their dishes are raw. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls and salads. The dragon roll was amazing! As a roll with avocado slices on the outside of the "dragon's" sushi body, it curved around the plate, and its dragon's face even had eyes, made expertly from different sauces. The Bobo salad made everyone at the table feel healthy. It was a a colourful blend of veggies, fruit and noodles. yum yum! We all left the restaurant feeling content. There was the perfect amount of food, we all left with comfortable bellies. The quality and freshness of the food was so apparent and clearly worth every penny. I look forward to my next visit to Uclulet and the Float House!
