"Fabulous gardens, worth the visit"
by Janet (from Fernie)
July 2008 - On a recent trip to the coast with some UK visitors, we spent a morning at the Butchart Gardens in Victoria. Formal gardens are not something I usually make a point of seeing but as these are a Victoria landmark, I wanted to visit them and can easily say that I was not disappointed in choosing to do so. All of the facility's distinctive gardens were beautiful in their own way but the Sunken Garden in particular was hugely impressive. The gardens are well laid out making them easy to spend as much or as little time taking them in as you wish. Yes, the gardens are busy, formal and not cheap but entirely worth a visit!
