February 2008 - The Empress hotel is undoubtedly the grand dame of Victoria's inner Harbour and we decided to take advantage of a special rate of $100 per night and stay there on our recent visit. The moment you arrive at the front desk, you realize you are in a prestigious establishment as you are greeted with air of grace. We also realized that the concierge figure out pretty quickly if you are from old money or are staying there on a deal. We walked along the maze of corridors to our room and loved the quirkiness of the shape of our room complete with the small window in the corner which did let in just enough light. Our room was clean and cleaned every day. We checked out the hotel gym which had new high-end workout machines plus a great pool and hot tub. We enjoyed our stay and would undoubtedly stay again but that would all depend on their next great special.
