"Quick and tasty slices, anytime of day."

February 2008 - After months of walking by popular, late night pizza shack, The Joint, I finally had the occasion to try out the pie for lunch this past week. I started working downtown last week, and while I usually bring my own lunch, I was running late one day and didn’t have time to throw together a couple sandwiches. Come lunchtime, I was stuck fending for myself. I was looking for something fast and inexpensive, so a couple of slices of pizza sounded great. The Joint is right down on Warf street, in the heart of downtown…a popular stop for tourists during the day, and bar patrons after a night out.

The interior was welcoming and the aroma of fresh pizza was enticing, so I was kind of surprised that the place was empty at just after noon on a weekday. They had two choices for pizza by the slice so I chose one of each. The first was a meaty pepperoni slice, with lots of pepperoni and some mildly spicy sausage. The second was one of their specialty pizzas, with whole basil leaves, a couple kinds of cheese, peppers, fresh tomatoes and an interesting, pesto sauce. Both slices were tasty , hot and fresh, but I found the pepperoni a little too standard for my tastes. Great stop for a quick lunch though, and at $6 for two big slices of quality pizza, you can’t really miss. Definitely beats the bargain pizza joints and their “2 slices and a pop for $5” deals. They also do personal, 8” pizzas for $6.75, and a variety of calzones, paninis, quesadillas and salads. Definitely a spot I’d stop again for a quick lunch, or a late night slice, and probably the next place I’d consider ordering a pizza from. They also offer vegan and gluten-free pizza options, so everyone can enjoy.
