"Best Restaurant in Victoria"
9
by Jim (from Victoria, BC)
July 2008 - Some friends from out of town stayed with us recently. We decided to take them to Canoe because we had been here before, and thought they would enjoy the outdoor patio. Well, we were right. Not only was the patio full of sun and sights (it's right on the harbour), but the food and service were excellent as well. In fact, one member of our party said it was the best bacon/cheddar burger they had ever had.

There's no question, that this is one of the best places to eat in Victoria. I'm sure you could find better food elsewhere, but Canoe delivers the whole package: good food, great beer and amazing atmosphere.

P.S. Just in case you're wondering, I'm not affiliated with this restaurant whatsoever.

"It's all good!"

May 2008 - Where do I start? Everything about Canoe Brewpub is great: The food, the service, the drinks and the atmosphere. I've lived in Victoria for six months and just recently discovered this little gem of a restaurant. I will be back often.

"Upscale West Coast Dining (and Drinking)"
9.17
by Emilie (from Calgary)
April 2008 - Located along Victoria's inner harbour, this restaurant has more than just great food to offer. They brew their own beer, and have four varieties on tap. From the European pilsner dubbed 'Red Canoe' to their signature Beaver Brown Ale, beer enthusiasts will have much to keep them busy at Canoe Club. The building itself was erected in 1894, and the warm ambiance is classically west coast. With the wood paneled walls and patio overlooking the Pacific, it is impossible not to enjoy the feel and atmosphere present at Canoe Club. As far as the menu is concerned, they feature everything from comfort foods to international dishes. Several items featured are made with locally caught seafood, including wild halibut tacos, mussels from Salt Spring Island, and a wild salmon club sandwich. Even after frequenting this restaurant time after time, there are still menu items yet to be tried and, undoubtedly, enjoyed. The staff have never failed to impress with the speed and quality of service, and though wait times are sometimes lengthy, they always pay off.

"Relaxing afternoon"

by Gary (from Calgary)
February 2008 - We discovered the Canoe Pub by chance after wandering along the inner harbour and we were glad we did. The pub is situated in a heritage building right along the water and has exposed brick and high timber beams which adds so much character. There is an outside seating area which will be great on a good summer's day but we chose the warmth of the inside. The pub brews its own range of beers and I tried the 'Sirens Song Pale Ale' with my BBQ chicken pizza and both meal and beer were great. My partner tried the mussels and 'Red Canoe Lager' and enjoyed the mussel broth but did find some of the mussels a bit 'fishy'. There is a good vibe inside the pub and it made me want to spend the whole afternoon relaxing and enjoying their range of beers. We so enjoyed our afternoon there, that along with a couple of friends, we returned that evening for a beer and found the pub to be quite lively and definitely a favourite for Victorians.
