"healthy wholesome options"

August 2008 - An all- vegetarian restaurant. This is a great place for healthy and good tasting meals. The food is served buffet style, yet it is pay-by-weight. It's $2.19/ 100g. You can create your own salads using greens, a variety of veggies, dressings and toppings. There are plenty of warm dishes to choose from, which change daily. Some include: lasagna, moosaka, phad thai, falafels. There are two types of soups each day and always warm brown rice. This is a great place for people with specialty diets. Each dish is made with simple, natural ingredients and they are listed above each dish. There is also a wide selection of desserts and sweet treats. Some are made with alternative flours, like spelt, kamut, or rice flour. Some are made with alternative sweeteners or none at all. There is also a juice and smoothie menu. The food is simple and nourishing. There's usually something for everyone. Be mindful of the denser items, as these will cost you more. Bowls of soup, or rice, or homemade french fries are a set price and can be a great way to keep the cost down.

"a very healthy meal"

March 2008 - Green Cuisine is a personal favourite of mine in Victoria, and I think it’s a creative style of restaurant. All the food is laid out in a buffet style, you help yourself, and the food is sold by weight. I was nervous the first time I went, as I heaped up my plate, not really knowing how much my plate would come to when I got to the till. But I have found the prices are quite reasonable, and the soups are sold at a set price so you can really fill your bowl. I have had their lentil soup which I would definitely have again, and a coconut curry tofu that is mild and so very tasty, especially on top of brown rice. They also have a variety of steamed veggies to choose from, which are always steamed to perfection. Everything they serve is very healthy and 100% vegan. And after having a healthy lunch or dinner I recommend trying at least one of their many desserts, the carob cluster is one of my faves. I think its little hard to find if you're new to town, but if you're out doing some shopping in Chinatown or on Johnston St, its worth having a look for Green cuisine.
