| "Can't go wrong..." |

by Alberto (from Victoria, BC) September 2008 - My wife and I went to Fifth Street Grill for dinner this past weekend. We arrived around six and were able to get a table in the restaurant without waiting (although it filled up quickly). I had the curry and prawn pasta, which was tasty, a little spicy and fresh. My wife had the chicken satay -- she said it was really good.
The best part about this restaurant is the atmosphere: Relaxed, clean and cared for.
I would recommend Fifth Street for a safe, well-prepared meal. Nothing groundbreaking here, but you really can't go wrong either.

| "Busy neighborhood pub worth checking out..." |

by Tiemen (from Victoria, BC) April 2008 - We had actually attempted to got to the 5th St bar and Grill on one occasion previous to this, and were confronted with a long line and a substantial wait. It seems that it is a very popular place for a bite or pint on weekend evenings. Luckily, this time, we found ourselves looking for some pub food a little earlier on a Friday evening (around 5PM) and were able to get a seat immediately. I was in the mood for a burger and a beer, so that made ordering easy. I chose the Fire-Grilled Buffalo Burger with it’s house-made patty, barbeque sauce, cheddar, chipotle mayonnaise and fries, and dove into an after work pint while we waited for our order. One of the things that I think people find so appealing about the 5th Street Bar and Grill, is that the menu if divided up into 4 price categories. Menu items are either $5, $10, $15 or $20. You can what your budget is, and just hit that part of the menu. I didn’t even have to look past the $10 part of the menu, as there were plenty of things to choose from at that price range…from burgers and pizzas, to quesadillas, fire-roasted chicken and pork loin, there are tons of decent choices at a great price. Our food was served fast and hot, and the burger was really good. Great flavor and a thick patty and a fresh, tasty bun. Pretty much everything I look for in a pub burger. I’d have to say that we were impressed by the 5th Street. It’s got an atmosphere reminiscent of a chain restaurant like Earl’s or Moxie’s, but it’s neighborhood restaurant/pub…and it’s got a better menu and prices than the chains. I definitely see myself going back, whether it’s for appetizers and pints, another burger, or to try something new. Remember to hit it early on the weekend, or be prepared to brave the lines.
