by Tara (from Victoria) July 2007 - What an interesting restaurant! It’s located in Cook St. Village, a quaint shopping district near downtown Victoria that has great shops, restaurants and markets. King & Thai is one of about three or four restaurants that make up the Cook Street Village Food Court. The food court also had a sushi restaurant and an Ethiopian restaurant. I liked the fact that there were a few places to choose from and they were interesting and ethnic, not your typical food court choices. I chose Thai and my husband chose Ethiopian. There was about a 15 minute wait for my food because it was made with fresh ingredients and there was a sign that warned of the wait as well as the cashier telling me before I paid. So I was well aware there would be a wait. And was it ever worth waiting for! It was delicious – I had the spicy mixed vegetables stir fry with chicken. It came with fresh broccoli, carrots, red and green peppers, bamboo shoots, onions, mushrooms and ginger, and it was served with jasmine rice. It was really, really good and there was enough for me to take home and eat for another complete meal. The price was right ($9.50) and the ingredients were indeed fresh and contained no MSG. It was by far the busiest place in the food court and people didn’t mind waiting. I can’t wait to go back – next time I’m going to try one of their curry dishes!
