by Tiemen (from Victoria, BC) July 2008 - We’d been to Fairfield Fish and Chips a couple times before to grab some Fish and Chips, and I’ve always been impressed. Out of the local Fish shacks I’ve tried so far, Fairfield is up there as one of my favorites. So, I know I like the fish…but what about their burger? Newspaper articles all over the walls talk about how great the burgers are, but I always have a hard time ordering a burger at a fish and chip place. I finally broke down and made a special trip down to Fairfield for a burger. Thankfully, they do burgers as well as they do their fish. Hand formed patties, a slightly toasted bun, thick slices of pickle, and red pepper, along with your standard burger condiments make for a really decent sandwich. Add to that, an ample serving of fresh cut fries, and you’ve got a really decent meal that comes in a under $10. I love my fish and chips, but I also love my burgers…there’s no doubt that I’ll be back to Fairfield fish and chips, but whether I order a burger or fish will be a hard choice.

by Tara (from Victoria) July 2007 - I have eaten here once before, about a year ago and really enjoyed it so when my husband and I felt like fish and chips one night, we decided to try FairField Fish & Chips again. It’s a little take-out restaurant located in a beautiful neighbourhood close to downtown Victoria. They do have a bit of seating – there’s some stools inside along the window as well as a few tables outside. It was a beautiful night so we decided to sit outside. I had a piece of cod, fries and coleslaw. Everything tasted great and the service was good too. I especially enjoyed the fries - they were obviously fresh and homemade. It’s a busy little place and the people who ordered while we were there seemed like regulars. I think a lot of people actually go there just for the fries. While we were there we saw a few people come out with a ‘cone’ of fries. It looked like a newspaper wrapped like a cone filled with French fries. I thought the prices were reasonable but I do have one complaint and that’s the fact that you have to pay extra for tartar sauce. I think that should be included, especially when the restaurant’s specialty is fish and chips. But that’s not a big enough deal for me to not try this place again. Next time I’ll try the burgers – I hear they’re great too!
