by Miguel (from Victoria, BC) October 2008 - My wife and I recently had breakfast at the Blue Fox Cafe. This place gets busy, so we were happy that we only had to wait a few minutes to get a table. Unfortunately, they sat us at a table that was ridiculously close to another table (the width of my hand). This ruined the entire meal because we didn't feel comfortable talking to each other. If we whispered, the couple next to us could hear. We joked about the close proximity with them, but you could tell they were equally as uncomfortable as us. It's too bad this had to ruin what would have otherwise been a good dining experience.

by Emilie (from Victoria) March 2008 - After hearing rave reviews about this cafe, I decided to take my mum out for breakfast to Blue Fox during her springtime visit to Victoria. Eager to sell her on the unique culture and feel of my new hometown, I hope that the cafe would live up to the expectations I had. Going in, there was a long, informal line of people waiting to get sit down. Looking for a hostess to give our names to, the man in front of us said there was no hostess--that the line ran on an honour system, that patrons were trusted not to push in front of those ahead of them. When a table came up, those first in line would sit down. This seemingly simple system has been abandoned in many restaurants, who opt instead for electronic buzzing coasters that alert customers when their table is ready for them. At the Blue Fox, however, we simply waited in line, and were pleasantly surprised by the short wait time. The wait for our food was equally as short, and the portions were large, delicious and worth the price. After catching up, we were able to appreciate the inside of the restaurant. Art lined the wooden walls around the small cafe. The ceiling was high, and the eclectic paintings flowed all the way up the walls. The staff were relaxed, friendly, and engaged in conversation with us several times. We left with full stomachs, and I knew my mother had gotten a good first taste-both literally and figuratively-of Victoria.

| "Modern, Eclectic, and Colourful" |

by Jessica (from Toronto) June 2007 - Blue Fox is always busy. Located on a main street in Victoria on the way downtown (or just up from downtown depending on which direction you're coming from), Blue Fox is located inside a strip mall with a series of commercial businesses... however, this is it's only drawback. Making up for the sterility of the building in which it's located, Blue Fox splashes colour all over it's walls - with bubble text educating its customers on the vast array of yummy breakfast foods available. Eccentrically decorating several walls are different paintings featuring a, you guessed it, blue fox. Luckily for me, I was late and my friend had already braved the line-up to Blue Fox and found us a table for two. My "peasant's french toast," a french toast made with thick multi-grain bread, was deliciously rich. Topped with sour cream and honey, the french toast was a hearty if not healthier alternative to its more common cousin - french toast with maple syrup. My friend had a three-egg Mexican omelette. She only ate half and, actually, though I ate all of my breakfast, both of our breakfasts were large enough for two. And, As typical of a breakfast diner, my coffee mug was never left empty.
