"I've had worse..."

May 2008 - I had lunch here the other day, and quite enjoyed it. It wasn't the best Vietnamese food I've ever had, but it was better than any other Vietnamese restaurant I've been to in Victoria. The service is speedy (perhaps a little too speedy, suggesting that my lunch was ready before I ordered it) and the portions are big.

"Very Average"

by Tara (from Victoria, BC)
November 2007 - My husband and I went to Pho Hoa for lunch one day recently because we had heard a few people say it was really good so we decided to give it a try. I had the grilled pork, vermicelli noodles and spring rolls. I was actually a bit disappointed. It was very average and mine was served to me cold. It just wasn’t as tasty and flavourful as I was hoping it would be. One good thing though – it came very quickly. Within minutes of ordering we were eating, so that was good. Another good thing was that it tasted quite healthy (and maybe that’s why it wasn’t as tasty as other Vietnamese food I’ve had!). The spring rolls weren’t greasy at all and there was plenty of fresh sprouts, lettuce, carrots and cucumbers. But I was hoping for better and I left feeling dissatisfied. It’s located in downtown Victoria which is a great location and the service was friendly enough. They had a lot of different items on the menu, especially soups. But I also found it to be quite expensive. My dish came to almost $10 and I’ve had way better for way less. It wasn’t terrible, just very average. I’ll definitely try another Vietnamese restaurant before going back to Pho Hoa.
