"If you like sushi..."

July 2008 - Sen Zushi is a real treat. The restaurant itself is both beautiful and welcoming. Japanese paintings and art pieces create an elegant look to the place. The tables are separated from one another by sheets of sheer fabric, giving the feeling of privacy. The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu is quite extensive. So many choices! The miso soup is so tasty with pieces of seaweed and tofu. I ordered a spicy tuna temaki and Piano scale roll. They were beautifully presented and served on stunning pottery of rich colours. The tuna was so delicious, perfectly spiced! The piano roll was a vegetarian blend of cucumber, sprouts, a type of cooked gourd with avocado ontop. Yum yum yum. My friend also ordered a variety of rolls, so there were plenty of great flavours to enjoy. Our meals were between $15- $20. Well worth it. The food tasted so good and we felt comfortably satiated afterwards. If you like sushi, this place is worth checking out for yourself.

"My Favorite Japanese Restaurant"
9.17
by Sara (from Victoria, BC)
June 2008 - As the title mentions, I love this place! The food is consistently excellent! Some friends introduced me to this restaurant. They found they never had to go anywhere else for sushi because it was so good. Sometimes, people tell me how amazing a place is and I go only to be let down...but this is not the case here.

The night a few of us met up for dinner, it was packed, which I took as a good sign! I ordered the vegetable roll sushi, miso soup, vegetable gyoza, and the spicy tuna roll. The rice portions aren't too big which I appreciated and you get a choice of having the gyoza's deep-fried or pan-fried. I had a spicy tuna roll and it was not full of a mayonnaise sauce (that some of them come with) and had the perfect blend of spices. I was surprised at the amount of vegetables in the vegetable rolls and the portions were generous. The food does take a bit of time but it's well worth the wait!

"Sen Zushi, Will You Be My Valentine?"
9.50
by Thomas (from Victoria)
February 2008 - For Valentines Day, me and my boo had dinner at Sen Zushi and we were both so glad we did. Everything about the place was a delight from the Japanese entranceway and traditional decor to the friendly staff and great food.

We started with a nice warm bottle of Sake, ideal on a cold February day. The meal began shortly after with vegetable tempura—nothing too amazing—but it wasn't until the rolls and sashimi made their entrance that the true splendor of this meal was realized. The sashimi was delicate and tasted fresh, the rolls were nicely constructed—not to tight, not too loose and just enough rice—and the spicy tuna was by far the best I have ever had.

It got pretty pricey but good sushi is well worth it.
