| "Great Atmosphere" |

by Sara (from Victoria, BC) October 2008 - Penny Farthing Pub is located in a beautiful and quaint street in Oak Bay on Oak Bay Avenue. On this particular day there was about 11 of looking get a few drinks and appetizers. The waitress found a table near the back for us and we all ordered drinks. Conversation was good and then someone in the group noticed it was taking a long time to get our drinks. We weren't sure if it was because of the size of our group or because we were sitting near the back but it took much longer than necessary (over half an hour). Later on, we ordered some appetizers and I ordered a french onion soup. I have had french onion soup numerous times in Victoria at different restaurants and have never tasted one so awful! It tasted like some kind of powder mixed with water! I love the surroundings at Penny Farthing Pub but between the service and food, I'm not sure I'd go again.

| "More like a restuarant than a pub" |

by Tara (from Victoria) February 2008 - I’ve passed by this place so many times while in Oak Bay and finally had a chance to try it on the weekend. It’s a really great pub, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. For a pub, it was very bright inside (we were there around noon) and it was very clean – I felt more like I was in a restaurant than a pub. Our server was good and our food was great. They had so many items on the menu I had a difficult time deciding on what to order but I decided on the thin crust spicy chorizo sausage pizza. It came with sausage, feta and mozza cheese and fresh tomatoes. I thought $13 was a bit pricey for a personal pizza but it was huge and I ended up taking half of it home with me, so it was actually a pretty good deal. It was so good though I almost didn’t have anything to take home with me! The ingredients were so fresh and it was just so tasty. My friend ordered salmon fish and chips and she really enjoyed her meal, although she ordered a half order and it came to only $2 less than if she’d ordered a full order. So that was a bit of a let down, but other than that we really enjoyed the service, the atmosphere and the food. I can’t wait to go back with my husband and try something else. Next time I’ll definitely have to try a beer since that seems to be their specialty.
