"Comfortable gathering place in Yellowknife"
9
by Andrea (from Airdrie, Alberta)
March 2008 - The Black Knight Pub in Yellowknife is a main floor pub on one of the main streets in Yellowknife. The atmosphere is comparable to a Pub in Scotland. Coats of arms and swords decorate the dark wood paneling. The tables and chairs are large, solid and comfortable. They have different sections to the Pub. Up a few steps are a few large round tables seating up to 12. Towards the back of the pub there are smaller chairs and tables near the stage. During the night, a lot of regulars came in and sat at the bar. It seemed that everyone knew each other and there was a distinct Newfoundland feeling to the songs that the crowd was singing along with the live band. The bathroom was fantastic! My friend and I walked in and felt like we were movie stars! A huge mirror with benches and a makeup table with hand lotions and such. There were comfortable couches and a large floor length mirror. The bathroom was very clean and so inviting with its picket fence wallpaper. Our waitress was very friendly. Dressed very casually, she was more like a friend talking to us and taking our orders. She knew a lot about the menu and answered all of our questions. The food was very good and arrived quite quickly. I had a steak with salad and my fiancée had a Bison Burger. My friend had a quesadilla and her husband also had a Bison Burger. The portions were not enormous, but none of us completely finished our meals. We all had a few rounds of drinks as our friends just live 2 blocks away. They had a good selection of liquors and beers. The bill came to just over $150, and we left a $25 tip. I would defiantly recommend the Black Knight Pub to anyone visiting Yellowknife because of the atmosphere and home style cooking.
