| "Kluane Lake" |
by Marie (from League City, TX 77573-3520 USA) June 2005 - This is one of the most beautiful areas along the Alaska Highway. We have seen the Lake when it was frozen and you could not tell where the water ended and the land began. We have some besutiful pictures of the area. On one of our trips, we arrived just shortly after the birth of a baby moose. It was so cute with wobbly legs and still unafraid of vehicles along the highway. The lake stretches for miles. Not sure if there are fish in the lake as we have never gone fishing. Sure would be a good place for them. If you make the trip, take time to go to Soldier's Summit where the workers met when each end of the Alaska Highway was completed. There was a ceremony where the 'cutting of the ribbon' took place. We have also seen the Stone Sheep as they came down the mountain in the spring. Some still wearing their winter coats. Always a lot of babies. Stop at the ranger stations and they can give you the information on the sheep and if they are already down or if they are on their way down the mountain.
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
