| "Great Hideaway" |

August 2006 - The Algonquin Log Cabin is run by Voyageur Quest in conjunction with their canoe trips into Algonquin Park. The cabin is just outside the park, next to Surprise lake and about half an hours drive from the town of South River. Guests are treated to home cooking, there is no electricity, but gas powers the lights and the hot water. You can take guided walks in the forest to look outs and canoe trips across the lakes to picnic spots. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Also recommend the three day canoe trip into the park where you camp on a tiny island, swim in the lakes and meet the wildlife. Amazing scenery and good cooking round the campfire.

| "Loved the Quiet" |

October 2005 - I was part of a group of women celebrating our birthdays together and each of us wanted something different for our weekend up north. Our experience at the Algonguin Log Cabin provided serenity in a truly secluded pocket of the park. The cabin itself exuded warmth and comfort thanks to the incredible stone fireplace that beckoned us all for chats. We ate delicious meals,prepared by the cabin chef ( my fave was the butter tart squares! ), at a log table with long benches big enough to hold our party of 12. Those seeking adventure found it in the woods surronding the cabin. The cabin guides took us on a fantastic hike through spectacular autumn maple forests and woke those of us who were game for a sunrise paddle to catch sight of the many moose in the area. We were unlucky on the moose watch but the mist coming off the water against a pink sunrise was memorable So was the huge gourmet breakfast that was waiting for us. We all were reluctant to leave and many of us have planned return visits with our hubbies and kids.
